Today was the last lecture Riku would share with Haru.
Once class ended, summer break would begin.
As he walked toward the lecture hall, his steps felt heavier than usual.
After today, they wouldn’t be sitting side by side here anymore.
And if that changed…
Maybe they wouldn’t see each other at all.
When he reached the classroom, Haru was already in their usual seats.
“Morning, Riku.”
The same gentle smile as always.
And somehow, that was what hurt the most.
“You okay? You seem kind of down today.”
“No, I’m fine.”
But his feelings always showed on his face.
This was their last class together.
Did Haru not think anything of it at all?
Even after the lecture started, almost none of the material sank in.

It was only one class coming to an end.
And yet, it felt as though something important inside him was ending too.
